For other issues such as setup and use of email programs, computer hardware,
designing email filters, and similar topics which are not unique to this mailing

 - Read the manuals
 - Search the Internet for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) help
 - Contact the manufacturer's technical support
 - Ask your friends, co-workers, neighbors, relatives, etc.
 - Buy a how-to book on computers, email, internet, etc.
 - Search the Rootsweb Message Archives
 - Search the Internet 
 - Join a technical support mailing list
 - Buy a better computer program
 - Hire a technician to help you
 - Upgrade your computer
 - Buy a better computer

Try to avoid and minimize discussions in the mailing list which are not related
to the study, research, understanding, discussion, sharing, etc., of South
Carolina related genealogy.  However, we aren't heartless and a short,
infrequent off topic question and answer is only human.  Please make an effort
to find the answer before sending off topic questions to the SCROOTS list.  

If you can't figure out a problem which is seriously hampering your use of the
SCROOTS list messages, then we want to help you understand and solve the
problem.  After all, the basic goal here is to help each other with genealogy. 
These days it seems helping people with genealogy includes helping them with
computers and the Internet.  

I will try to develop a collection of FAQs for posting on my web pages to help
minimize the need for such off topic messages.  Anyone who has suggestions or
links which they think would be useful for posting as mailing list FAQs for
SCROOTS, feel free to send them my way.
