OPD cd update - John Robertson
Subject: OPD cd update
From: John Robertson
Date: May 26, 1999

It appears likely that there will be required number of requests for the cd
to justify the making of a June 1999 revision of the Old Pendleton Database
cd.

The Old Pendleton Database is composed of the ancestors and descendents of
those who lived in the westernmost 3 counties of SC. As expected,
event/locations for SC are the most numerous, but most states and many
countries are represented. NC and Georgia combined account for 15% of all
stated event/locations.

This is the cd version of the Old Pendleton Database as maintained by
Herman Geschwind of the OPD Chapter or the SCGS (revised/expanded monthly).
This database now contains well over 200,000 names (showing
relationships), and almost 11,000 surnames. The gedcom may be downloaded
From the link provided, but the cd is provided to save hours of
download/extract/combine/import time in 3 major genealogy programs (demos
or shareware of
all provided).

Please note the following:
1. The cd will not work with Macs
2. The cd requires Win95 or Win98.

The Old Pendleton Database cd webpage has been updated:
	http://www.shelby.net/jr/olpend/
You can look here to find about anything you'd like to know about the cd.

Please do not respond to this list regarding the cd. A special mailing
list OPD-CD-L has been formed at Rootsweb for the special purpose of
discussion of obtaining/using the cd. A portion of the revenue from the
cds will go to Rootsweb and to the OPDC/SCGS. This cd project was not
begun until it had the approval and support of Rootsweb.
