My husband's family, the Canteys, married into Olivers from
Clarendon/Williamsburg County, SC. There are still many Olivers around that
area today. You might try rootsweb at those county archives and also the
county gen. web project. The Olivers are also on www.genforum.com.
Our Olivers start with Peter Oliver, b. 2/23/1771 d. 3/31/1822. He married
Mary Sabb on June 8, 1797. Their son, Peter Morgan Oliver , b. 6/13/1798 d.
12/13/1833, married Amelia Almira Pendergrass on 12/25/1817. Peter and
Amelia had 13 children. Their sixth child, Benjamin Pendergrass Oliver was
born 2/14/1828 and died March 1855. He married Martha Ann Bagnal. Benjamin
and Martha Oliver died young leaving their daughter Mary Almira Oliver who
married Joseph Samuel Cantey on April 18, 1872. I have a picture of Mary
Almira Oliver.
Good luck. D. Cantey, Camden, SC
