Subject: Old Sumter District Wills From: Cynthia Ridgeway Parker Date: May 24, 2000 Hi everyone, The will transcription project is going great. A good number of folks have been emailing me and I have been sending them wills to transcribe for us, via scanning them and emailing them out to them. I still have over half of Volume I to get done and then there will be Volume II. I am working and working on the index and as the wills come in, I will make a web page for them and when I get the index done, start getting the wills up. If there is anyone else who would be willing to help us with this project, please let me know. Here is how it works: 1. You volunteer to help. 2. I send you a scanned will or two by email. 3. You print the will(s) out and type on your word processor. 4. When you are done, you email the will back to me, either as an attachment to an email or copied and pasted into the email. (Email them to school or to my home address: [email protected], but be sure to not email me any wills at school: [email protected] Just request the wills From there, up until June 1. Then school will be out and I will no longer have my helper. 5. I will copy and paste your transcription onto a web page and eventually you will see it on the SCSumter site. 6. You email me and ask for more to transcribe when you have the time to work on them. (This will be an ongoing project. There are 2 notebooks to do with almost 500 single typed pages in each one.) Just let me know. A wonderful student here at school who is in my homeroom is doing most of the scanning for me. He been our head Safety Patrol for the past 2 years. He has put the flags up for the past 3 years. He has scanned wills for me during his study hall for the past two days as well as during homeroom this morning. Thanks in advance for your assistance, and I hope that we can get this project on line very, very soon.
