Subject: Re: OLD 96 DIST From: Tom Brown Date: March 25, 1999 I don't understand how this confusion got started. The border between SC and Georgia is and always has been the Savannah River with the only exception being what is now Oconee County, SC, which was part of Franklin County, Georgia until the Treaty of Beaufort in 1784. There are some land grants in that area only that are recorded in Georgia records. None of Georgia, other than a small island or two in the Savannah River was ever a part of South Carolina.
