Georgie Sauls Stukes Manning-- Georgie Sauls Stukes, 96, died Tuesday, January 27, 1998. The funeral will be held at 11 am in the Presbyterian Church at Manning Friday, Jan. 30, with interment to follow in Manning Cemetary. A memorial service will be held in the Presbyterian Home in Summerville at 10 am Saturday, Jan. 31. Memorial gifts may be made to the Presbyterian Home, Box 210037, Columbia, SC, 29221 or to the Palmetto Project, Box 506, Charleston, SC, 29405. Mrs. Stukes was born in Manning June 21, 1901, the daughter of Morgan Louis and Frances Harvin McFaddin Sauls. She earned a degree in music from Wintrhop University and was a longtime pianist and church organist. She also held several positions of statewide prominence. Mrs. Stukes was predeceased by her husband, former Chief Justice Taylor H. Stukes; her only daughter, Frances S. Skardon; and one grandson, Gordon Stukes. She is survived by her son, Joseph T. (Courtney) Stukes of Florence; seven grandchildren, Stephen L. Skardon, Mrs. Stephen M. (Cava) Sittnick, Taylor W. (Nancy) Skardon, Michael S. Skardon, Taylor H. (Madison) Stukes, C. Randolph (Ruth) Stukes and George W. (Angela) Stukes; and 12 great- grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Stephen Funeral Home of Manning will be in charge of arrangements.
