I have two collateral Oats ancestors that died in South Carolina Samuel in 1801. His brother Stephenson moved to Darlington in 1802. He died in 1817, his grandson William James established the community of Oates South Carolina. I am trying to locate any of their descendants who might have served in the Confederate Army is there a work which might list the companies and regiments organized in South Carolina that these people might have been listed in.
