Bachelor's Retreat is a small community about 3 miles south of modernday
Westminster, SC in Oconee County (Pickens County in 1860)  Today about
all there is is a community with some houses and I don't think there are
any significant indications of the former community.  The town was on
the maps as early as 1825 Mills Atlas.  The approximate location is
about 2 miles south of Westminster on Hwy. 24 is a church called Retreat
Baptist Church.  Turn beside the church and about a mile or so down the
road is the center of the old community.
