John Harvey NICHOLSON, DDS

   "John Harvey NICHOLSON, DDS, was born Sept. 1, 1894, in North Iredell 
County (Eagle Mills Township), son of James Tipton [NICHOLSON] (Dec 5, 
1861-July 24, 1954) and Nancy Jane JOHNSON NICHOLSON (Dec. 6, 1862-Sept. 
24, 1907)........
....On June 5, l924, he was married to Lula DIAL of Laurens, South 
Carolina, (Dec. 9, 1896-Mar. 31, 1953).  They were the parents of Dorothy 
DIAL NICHOLSON.
    Dr. NICHOLSON traces his ancestry to Scotch and Irish lines.  His 
Revolutionary forebear was John NICHOLSON, born May 9, 1757 at Princeton, 
New Jersey, and died Aug. 2, 1838, at Stokes County, North Carolina......"

The rest of the article focuses on Mrs. NICHOLSON's ancestors, Dr. 
Williamson Hastins DIAL and Lalla MOORE of Cokesbury, SC, gparents Capt 
Albert DIAL and Rebecca BARKSDALE, and Dr. William Andrew MOORE III and 
Margaret Louise WARDLAW.....also niece of US Senator Nath. B. DIAL from 
SC and descendant of James ABERCROMBIE, Attorney General of SC in 1732.

John Harvey NICHOLSON practiced in Statesville, Iredell Co., NC, after 
graduating from Atlanta So. Dental College (Emory).  He was raised a 
Quaker but became an active member of 1st Presbyterian Church in 
Statesville.

I have corresponded briefly with John H. NICHOLSON III about this family. 
 There were at least two NICHOLSON brothers who settled in no. Iredell.  
One was a millwright.  There were several mills in the area but one is 
still sometimes referred to as NICHOLSON's mill. These folks are related 
to the Stokes and Wilkes Co. NICHOLSONs.

Iredell Co. is just north of Mecklenburg and was settled about the same 
time, from 1750 on, primarily by Scotch-Irish coming down the Wagon Trail.
