We are a husband/wife team.  Desmond Fredrick HANSON & Michele Phillipa
HANSON (nee DAVIES) - both born in Australia.   Michele's great great
grandfather was a William COUCILL (1828-1873) who emigrated to Victoria in
1853 from Lancashire,
England.  Since early 1990 we have been researching this line finding that
some persons
carrying the surnames, COWCILL & COWSILL are also related.  The different
spellings have been due to illiteracy and mis-spellings by Church and other
officials in the UK during the 1800s.  We have built up a large database and
can offer look-ups to anyone researching these names.

We have found that some emigrated to Canada and the US, as well as
Australia.  We suspect that a branch of the COUCILL family may be located in
South Carolina.  During a
recent access of the  SCROOTS web pages, we found this obituary listing when
clicking on obituaries under "Gravestones & Obituaries":-
