In this volume the reader will find all items of genealogical interest appearing in the Carolina Spartan, during the years 1866 through 1872. The vast majority of the abstracts concern events in Spartanburg and Greenville Counties, South Carolina. New Prospect Baptist Church Minutes, 1820-1855 and Cemetery Survey by Larry Vehorn. Soft cover, 134 pages, indexed. Price $20 postpaid. This book includes a transcription of the minutes of the Baptist Church at New Prospect, South Carolina, from the founding of the church, until 1855. Sometime after 1858, an ancestor of the author copied the minutes and that copy is the basis for this work. This is the only known copy of the church minutes for the time period, as the church lost all early minutes in a fire. Church minutes are often the only record for families who lived briefly in an area. Included is a survey of the over 1,000 tombstone inscriptions in the church cemetery.
