Hello Mayfield's,

YES I am still researching my husband's line!! BUT LOOK what I FOUND!
While on the FHC LDS site, I ran across one a FRAIN surname that I am
researching. You all may be familiar with the queary I posted about a
Sanders J. FRAIN living in the home of Stephen MAYFIELD in the 1860
Conyers, Newton CO. GA census. At the time this Stephen MAYFIELD was 64
years old, and had Martha, 58yrs, John S. 25 yrs, Martha J. 19 yrs,
Robert C, 17 yrs. Also listed as residing in household was Sanders J.
FRAIN, 15 yrs, Martha FRAIN, 5yrs, and Jarrell ?? 15yrs.

In the same Census is listed John FRAIN 27 yrs, in Savannah, Chatham Co.
GA, and Walter S. FRAIN, 4--Wd Augusta Richmond Co. GA.

Since then I've run across mention of my Sanders Alexander FRAIN on a
Passenger and Immigration Index from Charleston SC ca 1853 (Augusta
Genealogical Society by Adamson, Raymond "I pledge allegiance" issue 7
1983, pp54, and 57). This same Frain I believe moved to Augusta GA, but
died before the 1860 Census, as the last mention of him is in the NGS
Quarterly (Mar 1982 Vol 70:1, pp21). In 1857 he is listed either in
Georgia Returns of Qualified Voters, or Naturalized Citizens of Augusta
and Richmond Co. According to the Family descendant chart my
grandmother gave me there was one Walter listed as a brother to my
Sanders Alexander FRAIN. Some of you may be familiar with Irish naming
patterns, but custom is to name the children after the Father, Mothers,
Brothers, and Sisters in a certian order. (This is not always the case,
but for this family line, I have found it to be true.)

Now for the MAYFIELD part. In the IGI records, a Walter S. FRAIN
married Mary V. MAYFIELD on 20 Jan 1856, Newton Co. GA. Batch no
M713453. (Sorry folks no sheet # was listed)

Soooo my question is, does anyone of you have Mary V. MAYFIELD possible
daughter to STEPHEN MAYFIELD (on 1860 census is listed as birth place
SC) at 64 years old in Conyers Newton Co. GA?? Have any of you a
connection to the FRAIN surname?? Will gladly and Gleefully share what
little I know about the FRAIN's if we are connected. BTW this Walter
and John Frain bithplace listed as IRE. I have parents, and some
siblings and then direct descent to me...

What a strange world we live in... <>

Hugs
Wendy
