Subject: Need Some Help With Mary V. MAYFIELD m. to Walter S. FRAIN From: Karl T. and Wendy Mayfield Date: May 10, 1999 Hello Mayfield's, YES I am still researching my husband's line!! BUT LOOK what I FOUND! While on the FHC LDS site, I ran across one a FRAIN surname that I am researching. You all may be familiar with the queary I posted about a Sanders J. FRAIN living in the home of Stephen MAYFIELD in the 1860 Conyers, Newton CO. GA census. At the time this Stephen MAYFIELD was 64 years old, and had Martha, 58yrs, John S. 25 yrs, Martha J. 19 yrs, Robert C, 17 yrs. Also listed as residing in household was Sanders J. FRAIN, 15 yrs, Martha FRAIN, 5yrs, and Jarrell ?? 15yrs. In the same Census is listed John FRAIN 27 yrs, in Savannah, Chatham Co. GA, and Walter S. FRAIN, 4--Wd Augusta Richmond Co. GA. Since then I've run across mention of my Sanders Alexander FRAIN on a Passenger and Immigration Index from Charleston SC ca 1853 (Augusta Genealogical Society by Adamson, Raymond "I pledge allegiance" issue 7 1983, pp54, and 57). This same Frain I believe moved to Augusta GA, but died before the 1860 Census, as the last mention of him is in the NGS Quarterly (Mar 1982 Vol 70:1, pp21). In 1857 he is listed either in Georgia Returns of Qualified Voters, or Naturalized Citizens of Augusta and Richmond Co. According to the Family descendant chart my grandmother gave me there was one Walter listed as a brother to my Sanders Alexander FRAIN. Some of you may be familiar with Irish naming patterns, but custom is to name the children after the Father, Mothers, Brothers, and Sisters in a certian order. (This is not always the case, but for this family line, I have found it to be true.) Now for the MAYFIELD part. In the IGI records, a Walter S. FRAIN married Mary V. MAYFIELD on 20 Jan 1856, Newton Co. GA. Batch no M713453. (Sorry folks no sheet # was listed) Soooo my question is, does anyone of you have Mary V. MAYFIELD possible daughter to STEPHEN MAYFIELD (on 1860 census is listed as birth place SC) at 64 years old in Conyers Newton Co. GA?? Have any of you a connection to the FRAIN surname?? Will gladly and Gleefully share what little I know about the FRAIN's if we are connected. BTW this Walter and John Frain bithplace listed as IRE.
