Subject: Need research suggestions From: Kay Rockett Date: August 06, 1999 I have strong preponderance of evidence for an ancestor and would like to know if you can suggest any other sources that I might check out for PROOF. I have an ancestor Peter COOPER who went from "probably" Fairfield Co, SC to Chilton/Autauga Co, AL ca 1820. I have a "very probable" father for him named Adam Sr. Adam Sr had four sons, according to censuses. One "disappeared" before or in 1820. The other three were Adam B. Jr., Andrew, and George. Adam Sr had three daughters: Mary, Nancy, and Margaret. Adam Sr's father was named Peter, and he had a brother named Peter. Doesn't it stand to reason he would name a son Peter? I think Peter is the one who "disappeared" before or in 1820. My ancestor Peter COOPER appeared in Chilton/Autauga County, AL before or in 1820. Among his children were Adam, Andrew, George, Nancy, Mary, and Margaret. His earliest neighbors in AL were the same men who had lived near Adam Sr in Fairfield Co ca 1800, so it appears they all moved together. Their surnames were STRINGFELLOW (Henry), GRAY, FUNDERBURGH/FUNDERBURK, and POSEY (Francis). I have probate records for both Adam Sr and Peter. I have extensive land deeds for both and census info, and I have checked censuses to see if any of the brothers or sisters might have moved to Autauga/Chilton, but I simply can't find a needed PROOF. Can anyone suggest documents or other sources that I might have overlooked?
