The way I have had good results is that I start checking the counties
back toward the state that I think the person was born 1st check GA
county census for the surname you are researching or you could just go
to the state census index and check for that surname. also he had to
come to the US by ship you could check the passenger ship lists for him
or his parents even if you don't know them many of the list will list
the childrens names along with the parents. I hope this helps, if you
