I desc. 1750s Dobbs Co., N.C. (defunct) Capt. John and Elizabeth Murphy of
"Bear Garden" plantation, originially from Virginia.  I desc. son Capt.
William Murphy of Pitt Co., N.C., Rev. War militia, his brother Capt.
Michael Murphy was also a militia captain.  There was brother John Murphy,
Jr., sister Gail Murphy, and brother Capt. Jethro Murphy, master of the
plantation ship "Betsy".  They were kin to Rigney Murphy and Guilford
Murphy.  Jim, Charlotte, N.C.
