Subject: MOUZON, DUBOIS, BOCHET, MOTTE, HOPTON From: ELIZABETH RUSSO Date: February 01, 2000 The LEWIS MOUZON and JAMES MOUZON of this transaction are apparently the two oldest sons of LEWIS MOUZON by his first wife, ANN DUTARQUE. The other brothers mentioned are alleged to be sons of LEWIS MOUZON, Sr. and his second wife MARIANNE? DeBOURDEAUX. Witness PETER DUBOIS was a newlywed husband of ANN ("the problem") MOUZON at the time of this transaction; this is another reason why for years the ANN MOUZON married to PETER DUBOIS was thought to be the ANN MOUZON, sister of the brothers mentioned below. Per discussion on this list, however, a will exists that purports to place the ANN MOUZON, sister to the brothers mentioned below as wife to DUPRE. Perhaps PETER DUBOIS was simply a neighbor. --------------------------------------------- Book O-O, p. 379 LEWIS MOUZON, planter, & SUSANNA ELIZABETH his 19 & 20 Dec. 1752 wife, to JAMES MOUZON, planter, both of St. L&R Thomas & St. Dennis Parish, Berkeley Co., for L 100 currency, his undivided share of the 500 a. on which LEWIS MOUZON, the father lived, in Berkeley Co., & devised to his sons, LEWIS, JAMES, PETER, SAMUEL & HENRY & the son to be born after his death. Whereas LEWIS MOUZON, SR., father of LEWIS & JAMES, parties hereto, by will dated 1745 bequeathed the 500 a. on which he lived equally to his sons JAMES, SAMUEL, PETER & HENRY; JAMES the eldest, to have his choice (except the part on which are the houses, building, etc., which is to be for HENRY); but should they die before reaching their majority LEWIS to have the share of the 1 dying; should there be a posthumous son he to inherit equally; & whereas a son was born after testators death & died in infancy, so that LEWIS inherited that sons share as well as his own; now LEWIS sells his 2/6 to JAMES.
