Subject: Moses BRASHER/BRAZIER From: David J Brasher Date: May 01, 1998 I am going to throw my story out again and see if it strikes anyone a familiar chord. Recorded Facts------------ My g-g-g grandfather was Moses Brasher. Census data shows he was born Abt. 1806 in SC. Census data also shows he was married to Rachel b. Abt 1806 in SC. They moved from SC to Shelby Co., Alabama in the 1820's. In 1830 they show on the AL Census and continue until 1880 Census. They had children Esom Terrence b. 1836-Robert Nathan-Austin-Rachel-Mary-and two other boys, so far, unnamed. Moses also acquired some land in Shelby Co., in 1855 Now some of the good stuff (family stories)----- Story 1----------- Moses came from England (or one or two generations from coming from England) with four brothers. They ended up in Shelby Co., AL. Moses decided(?) to marry a Creek Indian from around Shelby Co., possibly before Andrew Jackson ran them out. The other three brothers ostricized Moses and no longer associated with him. One story even says that the families had pictures, and when Moses married the Indian, Moses picture was turned face-to-the-wall in each of the other three brothers homes. Story 2----------- Moses grandchild, oldest son of Esom, wrote a newspaper article stating that Moses wife was Caroline, a full-blooded Creek Indian. If anyone can shed any light on this subject I would appreciate any communication.
