We are researching the Young/Marchbanks/Porter/Moseley/Chapman/Connelly/Banks
lines in South Carolina. We are obtaining more information but the Moseley
 connection has the most mystery.

Our tentative lineage follows:

1. Levi (W) Young b. August 27, 1758 in Rocksbury Township, Morris County,
 NJ; d Feb 3, 1838; m Mar 15, 1782 to Nancy Marchbanks b. Jan 18, 1755, d
abt 1843. According to info in Rev War pension 9040, they first settled along
the Pacolet River near the Marchbanks family in Union District during the Rev
War. Levi and Nancy Young later moved to Pickens County where they died in
1838 and 1843, respectively. Burial sites not known.

2. Stephen Young b Oct.25, 1788 d 1829; m abt 1800 to Rebecca Porter b Feb.
25, 1788, d unknown. Stephen Young died in 1829. In the 1850 census, Rebecca
is listed as Rebecca Chapman and married to Enoch Chapman. Burial sites not
 known.

3. Sarah E. Young b 1829 same year as death of father Stephen Young, d in
early 1900s and is buried in Pickens County with husband J. Connelly. Burial
site is Porter Methodist Church with numerous Porter burial sites nearby.
 They had several children.

Family history is that first husband to be was a James Moseley. They had
'jumped the broom' but were unmarried. Two children were apparently born
before Moseley died, possibly in a horse accident. The children were Eliza??
and Joseph W. Young, my ggrandfather.

4. Joseph Whitner Young b 25 June 1849 in Pickens County, d 22 Nov,1932 in
Franklin County, Texas, m early 1870s to AE(Alcy Emaline) Banks who are
buried in Texas. They migrated to Tx with children about 1880. The rest of
my lineage is in East Texas and Dallas, Tx areas.

Thanks to Leigh Smith, I now have new information to pursue re the Marchbanks
lineage. I am also searching for history on James Moseley and family. I do
know that the Young/Chapman/Moseley families lived close to each other north
 of Pickens in Pickens County.

My ggrandfather told family members that he was 1/4 Cherokee but there are no
details. We assume that our indian bloodline may tie to Rebecca (Porter)
Young (full Cherokee) or James Moseley (1/2 Cherokee). An indian ancestor
named Red Horse is also part of our verbal family history.

We would appreciate any assistance or suggestions, particularly with the
Moseley and Porter families and indian portions.
