James STAFFORD James Obed STAFFORD, 64, of Rt. 2, Charlotte, died at 4:10 pm yesterday afternoon in a Charlotte hospital. He had been ill 3 days. Mr. Stafford was assistant agent for the Texas Oil Company. He was born Sept. 25, 1889, in Alexander County, NC., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Avery Stafford. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Wed. afternoon at McEwen West Chapel. Rev. Frank Moore of the Oakhurst Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Johnston Stafford; five daughters, Mrs. E.A. Harper of Forest City, Mrs. T.R. Bowers, Mrs. Jack Biggers, Mrs. Kenneth Cox and Miss Jo Nell Stafford, all of Charlotte; two sons, Claude M. and Tracy B. Stafford of Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Hope and Mrs. Carrie Roberts, both of Cramerton; one brother, Augustus Stafford of Lowell, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services for Joy Dean MAYNOR, 11, of McAlway Rd., who lost her life by drowning while wading in a small lake on Amity Rd. Wed. afternoon, were held Fri. afternoon at 4 pm at St. John's Methodist Church. She was a member of this church. Rev. Charles G. Shannon, the pastor, officiated. He was assisted by Dr. J.W. Stork, pastor of the Mt. Gilead Presbyterian Church. Interment was in Sharon Memorial Park. The child is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Maynor, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Jane Cooke of Charlotte and Mrs. B.J. Weeks of Petersburg, VA. Joy Dean was one of the 2 victims in the drowning tragedy. The other child who lost her life at the same time was Martha Jean LOWRY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Lowry of McAlway Rd. DEAD PILOT'S WIFE PINEVILLE NATIVE Capt. Idon M. Hodge Jr., one of the 4 jet pilots killed at Lawrenceville, GA., Sun., was the husband of the former Miss Quincy Alexander of Pineville, according to word received here. She is the daughter of Mrs. H.Q. Alexander of Pineville and the late Dr. Alexander. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Capt. Hodge was a native of Washington, DC. He and Mrs. Hodge recently returned from France, where he was stationed with the Air Forces.
