I am posting this in the hopes that someone may have more info on this family.

George MILLER was in the western part of Pendleton Dist. (now Pickens Co.), SC, by at least 1790 when he was counted in the 1790 Census. He received a land grant on Rices Creek in the same area in 1792. I have records of other grants in 1771 & 1774, but need to prove that this is the same George MILLER. By the ages of his children, George was born abt 1740, place unknown [census reports confirm only that he was b. by 1755].

George was married to Mary UNKNOWN who could have been Indian/Native American. Their children were known to include the following (Are there others?):

Isaac, Sr., md. Hester Elizabeth WEAVER; remained in Pickens Co.

Micah/Michael, md. Margaret BOREN, moved to KY, then to Claiborne Parish, LA

Morris, md. Catherine BOREN, moved to KY, then to Claiborne Parish, LA

George, no info

Jesse, appears to have moved back to SC from KY

Jacob, md. Rhoda WIMBERLY, moved to KY, gave land for Green River Bapt.

Adam, md. Betsy TAYLOR in KY

Susannah, mentioned in father's will in KY, 1812

Ana, mentioned in father's will in KY, 1812

Agnes, no info

There may have been other children, in particular, daughters named Mary, Isabella, or Barbara. Other info above may be inaccurate, but I am seeking help to correct and/or verify these children.

George MILLER and his wife Mary left Pickens Co. in 1804 and moved to Warren Co., KY; his will was filed there 3/12/1812. Those mentioned in his will include: wife Mary, daughters Ana and Susannah ("who took care of us in our sickness"), Micah MILLER,exe; Berryman ROE,exe; wit: William MELTON, Francis BOREN, Matthew BOREN.

There were families with the surnames of ROE, MELTON, BOREN, and WIMBERLY who left SC in 1804 when George MILLER and Mary left Old Pendleton Dist. Either Francis or Matthew BOREN (above) was married to a dau of George's and Berryman ROE was married to another daughter (need their first names).

1790 Census, Pendleton Dist., SC:
M460 MILLER Georg 02 (males >16) 03 (males <16) 06 (females) 00 00

1800 Census, Pendleton Dist., SC:
George MILLER 01101-00301-00
Michael MILLER 10100-00100-00
(listed near John BOREN, Matthew BOREN, Lewis WIMBERLY, Francis BOREN [who had sons Isaac and Jesse BOREN also], Isaac MILLER, Jesse MILLER, Wm. KILBURNE)

1810 Census, Warren Co., KY:
George MILLER 00101-10121-00

I would like to know which MILLER daughter married Berryman ROE, and which one was married to a BOREN. The Rebecca WIMBERLY who married Jacob MILLER was a dau of Lewis WIMBERLY and his wf. Martha BARBEE.

George MILLER, according to family as well as local Pickens Co. legend was a German soldier (Hessian?) who first came into the upstate of SC to assist in fighting the Indians. He was born by at least 1755 if you go by the fact the he was 45+ in 1800; son Isaac was born abt. 1765, so George was prob. born 1745 or earlier. George and his son Isaac, Sr., who remained in Pendleton Dist., were responsible for witnessing statements for many later Germans who came into the area in the late 1700s-early 1800s and applied for citizenship. This seems to point more to the fact that he was of German origin.

The WIMBERLY family was in Bertie Co., NC bef. coming to SC and the BOREN family seems to have been in Surrey Co., NC and bef. that Halifax Co., VA.

If anyone has any clue, ideas, proof about George MILLER's origins, I would love to hear from you. I have researched this family since I was a child and can provide you with any info that I have (which is an awful lot of "stuff"). I am very interested in whether or not George MILLER did come fr. Germany and wherever else he may have come from; I am also interested in his descendants. I have a great deal of info on the descendants of Isaac MILLER, Sr. (my line), but I have also managed to trace some of the other children with the assistance of others on the internet in the last few years.

I would love to hear from you if you can connect with any of these MILLER, BOREN, WIMBERLY, ROE, MELTON families! I would also love any info on Mary MILLER, wf. of George.

I know this is long and involved, but I thank you so much for your time! If the above is not clear, write me!

Godspeed....and a safe and happy new year!
Dolores Miller Pringle,
dau of Cody Morris MILLER, II., son of George Henry Alexander MILLER, son of Elijah DeForrest MILLER, son of Morris Monroe MILLER, son of Isaac N. MILLER, Jr., son of Isaac MILLER, Sr., son of George MILLER/Georg MUELLER? - 8th generation native of Pickens Co., SC and very proud of those beautiful hills!
