while at the Library today, I came across a bunch of MILAMs in Tallapoosa Co,
AL.  Thought to copy them and send.  Hope this helps someone.  Someone from SC
Roots recently asked about MONK family.  I found one.

From A History of Tallapoosa Co, AL - by the Bicentennial Committee 8-13-1993

"The oldest original deeds in Daviston, Tallapoosa Co, went to S W MONK in
1836 and to Benjamin MILAM in 1844.  Those places are on whta came to be
Daviston - Bill Price Road.  Some families whose names are a part of
Daviston's history by having owned land here at some time are included here.
They include those who lived within a radius of a few miles during the 1800's
and early 1900's.  Some early landowners besides those already mentioned were:
Jonathan HALL, Johnson HALL, ....., W. M. MILAM, ....., Jim M MILAM, ......
Will HALL, .........., .
Daviston was in Tallapoosa's extreme NE corner, a very few miles from Clay,
Randolph and Chambers Counties.  Tallapoosa Co was created in 1832 - First
Census in 1840 included G MILAM (531).  Interestingly there was a family named
CONINE in this area, early on.  A Rev Brittain CONINE.  His descendants are
mentioned in the history, but there seems to be no connection to the CONANT
family.
