My dad called it being "malicious politeness"; you return repeated rudeness
with repeated politeness--drive's 'em nuts. They lay on the car horn; you
politely smile "greetings too", and wave friendly and politely. Jim,
Charlotte, N.C. It worked for me with the few egotistic, class conscious,
Navy officers I ran into; being very polite and servile--some had no notion
of what was going on. The powerful vs. the powerless; but most Navy
officers work on the team concept.
