As with most subjects, the Internet only exposes a small fraction of the
information existing in Archives, Libraries, Government Records, and private
collections.  For serious, extensive, detailed, and proven research the Internet
is not a substitute for the real thing.  And it probably will be a very long
time before it is. 
Just because it isn't on the net doesn't mean it isn't.
