Subject: McComb 1719 Judgement Roll From: Jane McCombs Gillespie Date: May 19, 1998 I received from the Archives in the past a copy of a Judgment Roll.. 1719 Box 13A # 41A.. it concerns a case of a William Blakeway Esq. against a John McComb.. it lists John McComb followed by what looks like Monk (or h instead of k) .. is this a title or something.. it follows John's name like Esq. follows Blakeway.. This document starts with a salutation from Lord Proprietor John Lord Carteret.. asks that John appear before the Chief or Clerk of Justice Nicholas Trott at Charles Town Oct 1719.. Court of Common Pleas I can't read most of this.. is there a book or something that might contain these Judgment Rolls?? A John In 1719 in South Carolina is a surprise for me.. didn't know they were there that early.. Another thing to check on!! Any comments appreciated!!
