    I find your post very interesting  and full of possibilities!  Do you know if
your Matthew Woods had a sister named Elizabeth?  And who his father may
have been?  I find a John McManus m. Elizabeth Woods in Orange Co., NC
in 1784.  I am thinking this John may be my husband's ggg grandfather who
was in Edgefield Dist., SC in 1789 where he purchased 100 acres of land
for 30 shillings.  I have been unable to find his wife's name, but they had
several children including one named John, James, Richard, Margaret.  I
believe John of Edgefield was related to the James and Mary McManus in
Wadesboro, Anson Co.,  NC.  James  died about 1761/62, probably in the
Cherokee Indian War.  He was a Captain in the NC Military.  Some of his
descendants moved down to Chester, Lancaster, Chesterfield Counties in the
early l1800s.

Does anyone have any details on the family of Matthew Woods and Margaret
Faucett, Orange County NC.  They had at least three sons born around
1800:  John, Richard and James.  I have received information that James
and Richard moved to Chester County SC.  In 1822, John married a Lavina
Jones in Orange County; however I have no information that he also moved
to SC.  Thanks for any help.
