Expended July 22, 1829. Paid: Elizabeth Anderson $225.00 I am opearating on the presumption that the Jane Shanks mentioned in this will is the same Jane Shanks married to my husband's ancestor, James Shanks. I am unlearned in reading wills. I presume that the date of the will is the date Mary Deall wrote it (or at the very least, got it to the lawyer). What does proved mean? Is there a possibility that the Executors and witnesses are somehow related to Mary Deall (and hence Jane Deall Shanks)? Who could Jonathan and John Anderson be and why would they be listed as her children (unless, they were from a first marriage?). Is there some way to locate Mary Deall's Mister Deall?
