DEALL, MARY
Will dated June 2, 1828 in Abbieville District. Proved July 7, 1828.
Executers: James, George McLin Morrow. Wit: O., A.L. Houston, Mary
Morrow.
Children: David, Elizabeth Deall, Martha Taylor, Jane Shanks, Molly
McGaw, Jonathan, John Anderson.
Expended July 22, 1829. Paid: Elizabeth Anderson $225.00

I am opearating on the presumption that the Jane Shanks mentioned in
this will is the same Jane Shanks married to my husband's ancestor,
James Shanks.

I am unlearned in reading wills. I presume that the date of the will is
the date Mary Deall wrote it (or at the very least, got it to the
lawyer). What does proved mean? Is there a possibility that the
Executors and witnesses are somehow related to Mary Deall (and hence
Jane Deall Shanks)? Who could Jonathan and John Anderson be and why
would they be listed as her children (unless, they were from a first
marriage?).

Is there some way to locate Mary Deall's Mister Deall? Did he
predecease her?
Thanks
Tinker
