Editor's Note: After Bill Chandler's letter arrived, we asked around about the
Fitzpatrick will that may help us unravel the mystery of our Benjamin. Sure
enough, Dr. Abe Lavender had a copy that had been packed away. We consulted
with Ione Woodall who, perhaps, conducted the most dedicated research of
Fitzpatricks, and this is her interpretation of the Will of Edward Fitzpatrick,
dated 5 Nov. 1781, Craven Co., N.C. "Edward's wife was apparently his second
wife ... Edward's children were Daniel, who apparently died before the will was
written, Manoah, Menan, Peter and Micajah, Mary (probably married to James
Coleman) and Annah. The Manoah of Sumter District, SC was the son of Daniel,
not the son of Edward." Ione added, "I believe that sometime between 1781, when
Edward wrote his will, and 1790, Peter moved to Sumter District, SC, and
Micajah, my ancestor, moved over to Pitt Co., N.C. where he probably married."
Only reference on the will is P 99-100.

Hope that helps,
