I have only found two listings for my Father's Maternal Grandfather, M. W.
Zeigler:
once in the 1860 SC (Charleston) census (age 38, coachmaker, b. PENN) with
spouse Anna Kennedy (b. Pennington, SC, age 31), daughter Susan Jane (age
11, born SC, my GGrandmother, married James C. Martin), son William (age 9,
born SC), and infant daughter, age 4 months; and once in the Charleston City
Directory for 1868, listed as a house painter.
I don't even know his full name.

A question---were there a lot of Railroad employees in the 1800's?
A lot of my Martins and Browns were connected to the railroads. Does anyone
know?
Thanks,
Caroline Williams
