Typescript list with handwritten additions lists first and last names of slaves
of "Robert Chisolm of Beaufort and Colleton Counties, South Carolina, at the
date of the Emancipation Proclamation." Includes an affidavit (1895 May 15) by
former slave Adonis Washington that "he personally knew all of the persons named
within." List is notarized by J.V. Burke in Marion County, Florida, and signed
by Edward North Chisolm, son of Robert Chisolm.

Document is a certified return of commissioners appointed to carry out a writ of
partition for the slaves of the estate of R. Russell Ash. Return lists the names
of slaves and their value, divided into nine groups and alloted to John
Richardson, John Fraser, William Fraser, George Fraser, Miss Harriet Fraser,
Alexander Fraser, Dr. Henry Richardson, Miss Caroline Fraser, and Richard A.
Fraser. 

R. Russell Ash is probably Richard Russell Ash, son of St. Paul's Parish, S.C.
plantation owner Cato Ash (d. ca. 1757).

Slave lists include names of "Trust Negroes" and "Negroes Mortgaged to Sue" with
information concerning births, deaths, and purchasers. The blanket list includes
names and the years blankets were distributed.

List of Trapier's property, including slaves, crops, houses, and cattle, which
was stolen or destroyed by the British during the Revolutionary War.

Alonzo J. White married Eliza Marie Ingraham (1813-1893). 

Volume related to slave auctions contains lists of slaves, a partial index, one
list of cattle and other goods, and attached lists of slaves and calculations.
The book was kept by or for Alonzo J. White. 

Slave lists contain amount of money received from sales as well as the names,
ages, and other information related to the slaves' physical conditions,
occupations, and skills. 

Sales are for the estate of Dr. J.W. Schmidt (plantation in St. Bartholomew's
Parish, Colleton District and "city negroes"), J.I.H., W.P. Ingraham (Spring
Hill and Benevento Plantations), Lieutenant Shubrick, the estate of Mrs. James
Lowndes, J.W. Wilkinson, W.J. Grayson, S. Magwood, Charles Alston Jr., and Capt.
D.N. Ingraham. 

Additional sales are for R. DeTreville, Col. J.P. Alston (of Waccamaw), W.M.
Hunt, H.P. Walker, J. Motte Alston, Charles Kerrison, Chas. Bearing, Harmony
[Plantation], the estate of Harriett Hamlin (Samuel H. Hamlin, administrator),
A. & W. Middleton, the estate of W[illia]m S. Fenell, and J.L. Fabian. 

A list of cattle and other goods pertains to Dr. J.W. Schmidt's plantation. 

Microfilm (45/325/8) available in repository. 

Inscription in pencil on back endpaper reads "Thos. S. Bridgham 54th Mass. 1st
Lieut."

Horry, Elias, 1773-1834. 
Elias Horry estate book, 1837-1864.

Georgetown County, South Carolina plantation owner. Elias Horry was a
Charleston, South Carolina attorney and a South Carolina Representative. Horry
married Harriet Vanderhorst (d. 1815) in 1797. After the death of his first
wife, Horry married Mary Rutledge Shubrick in 1817. His children were William
Branford Shubrick Horry (1818-1863), Julia Elizabeth Horry Trapier (1825-1881),
Edward Shubrick Horry (1827-1892), and Paul Trapier Horry (1829-1878). 

Volume contains records of the Elias Horry estate including slave lists, rice
quantities, livestock lists, timber sawn, goods received, cloth and blankets
distributed to slaves, and the births and deaths of slaves. 

Records of quantities of rice shipped to Charleston (S.C.) at various dates
include the names of sloops on which rice was shipped as well as the amount of
rice delivered to the mill in 1837 and to the mill at Milldam from Newland,
Midland, and Milldam in 1838. 

Volume also includes lists of livestock (1838 and 1839); timber sawn by the mill
at Wamba [Wambaw] (S.C.); and goods received from Charleston (rum, tallow,
tobacco, sugar, corn, oil, bacon, rope, oats, files, and other goods). 

"A List of Negroes Belonging to the Est. of E. Horry" includes the names of
slaves at Milldam and Newland plantations (Georgetown County, S.C.). The volume
lists the number of yards of "Negro cloth," number of blankets, and other goods
given to slaves. Births and deaths of slaves at a farm in Greenville (S.C.) and
the sale of various slaves are noted in 1864. The volume also contains a "List
of slaves owned by William B.S. Horry, Julia H. Trapier, Edward S. Horry, and
Paul T. Horry" (1863) from the estate of Elias Horry.
