Hi,

I have been searching for information on a James LAYTON in SPARTANBURG co.

He does not show up on the Spartanburg co census until 1830.  He would have
been about 48 years old.

In 1820 he is listed on the LANCASTER co. census spelled LEATON.  In 1810 he
is listed on the KERSHAW Co. census.  

If anyone is researching LAYTONs in Lancaster or Kershaw, I would really love 
to hear from you.
