Tonya,
My name is Byron Stone & in my experiance a number of possibilities come to
mind:
(1) He may have never occupied the land & it may have been regranted at some
later date (2) If it were taxable property & he moved away & no no longer
paid his taxes ,the property may have been sold for taxes.(3) He may have
sold it to someone who never recorded the deed (4) many transactions were
done verbally.Just some ideas.
