One of my ancestors purchased 640 acres of land situated in the district of 
Camden Co. on Taw Kaw Swamp Waters of the Santee River.  Is this an actual 
swamp and how large is it?  Why would someone want swamp water?  Not being 
From So. Carolina I can't imagine what it would look like.  Are there 
aligators there?  This was purchased in 1785 and things might have changed by 
now.  Would like to get a little information from someone who knows about 
this.  Hoping to hear from you......Rachel
