KNIGHT, JOHN	1807-1878  LANIER

John Knight was born in Wayne County, July 7, 1807, a son of Elder William 
A. Knight (see Vol. 1).  He came with his parents to what was then Lowndes 
County in 1824-1825, and was married there in 1830 to Miss Sarah ("Sallie") 
Moore, daughter of John and Elizabeth Moore (see Vol. 1).  She was born in 
1810 in Bulloch County.  To them were born:

1. William J.	b. 1831, m. Nancy, daughter of William C. Knight January 1, 
1860.
2. Levi J.	b. 1833, m. Sallie O'Neal of Brooks Co.
3. James Aaron	b. 1836, m. Keziah, daughter of L. J. Knight September 1, 
1858.
4. Mary Ann	b. 1838, m. (1) William A. Jones November 5, 1856 (2) Green 
Bullard.
5. Henry H.	b. 1840, m. Susan Ray.
6. Sarah Louisa	b. 1845, m. George W. Clyatt October 23, 1866.
7. Keziah Linnie	b. 1849, m. Elbert D. Griffin, February 10, 1867.

Mr. Knight was Captain of the militia in the 664th district, Lowndes 
County, 1827-1830.  He was a private in Capt. L. J. Knight's independent 
militia company in the Indian War in 1838.  He was Justice of Peace in the 
664th district, 1833-1838.  He served as Receiver of Tax Returns of Lowndes 
County, 1829-1831, 1841-1842 and 1856-1857.  He was named by the General 
Assembly in a resolution adopted December 23, 1835 as one of the 
commissioners to fix upon a new county site for Lowndes County.
Mr. Knight in his later years operated a gin and grist mill by water power 
at his home in what is now Lanier County, but at that time Berrien County. 
 He died of a heart attack in 1878 while operating his mill.  His body was 
buried at Union Church where his parents were buried.  His wife survived 
some years and spent her last years in Florida with her daughter, Mrs. 
Clyatt, and died there and was buried in Bradford County.

KNIGHT, AARON	1813-1887  BERRIEN

Aaron Knight, a son of Elder William A. Knight and wife (see Vol. 1), was 
born in Wayne County, July 17,1813, and moved with his parents to Lowndes 
County in 1825.  He died at his home near Empire Church, April 27, 1887. 
 He was first married to Miss Nancy Sloan, born 1813 in North Carolina. 
 She died about 1852, and he then was married November 15, 1858, to Mrs. 
Sarah E. K. Sanders, born April 4, 1824, died January 23, 1890.  The first 
wife is buried at Union Church, grave unmarked; the second wife is buried 
by [beside] Mr. Knight at Empire Church.  In the following list, the first 
eight children were by the first wife and the last two were by the last 
wife:

(1st coulsin).

7. Levi D.	b November 4, 1848, m. (1) Julia Lee, daughter of John and 
Eleanor (2) Pollie Carter.
8. Oscar V	b. February 8, 1851, m. Mary Ann Connell May 28, 1871.
9. Clarisa	b. November 10, 1860, m. John T. Rowan.
10. Magdalene	b. November 30, 1865, m. Charles A. Rowan.

Mr. Knight was Justice of Peace of the 1144th district of Berrien, 
1856-1857, being elected at the first election in the newly formed district 
following the creation of Berrien in 1856.  He served in Capt. Levi J. 
Knight's independent militia company in the Indian War, also in David R. 
Bryan's company of Lowndes County militia in 1838.  He was 2nd Lieutenant 
of the militia in the 663rd district, Lowndes County, 1840-1842.

KNIGHT, ABRAHAM.	1789-1867 	WAYNE

Abraham Knight was born in Effingham County in 1789, a son of John and 
Fannie Knight and a brother of Samuel Knight (Vol. I). He came with his 
parents to Wayne County about 1807-08, and was married Jan. 17, 1810, at 
Hazzard's Neck in Camden County, to Sarah H. Tucker, born 1796, in this 
state, daughter of James and Jemima Tucker. To them were born the following 
known children (list incomplete):

1. Samuel	b. 1817, m. Mary E. Hunter, dau. of Wm. Moved to Hamilton Co., 
Fla.
2. Andrew J.	b. 1818, m. Margaret Bennett, dau. of Henry.
3. Thomas	b. 1820, m. Susan Hunter, dau. of Wm. Moved to Hamilton Co., Fla.
4. Mary E.	b. 1821, m. Malachi Harper, son of James (Vol. I).
5. Elijah Tucker	b. 1829, m. Nancy Harper, dau. of James (Vol. 1).
6. Abraham	b. 1826, m. Harriet Raulerson, dau. of Jacob (Vol. 1).
7. Eliza	b. 1838, m. Joshua Harper.
8. Erastus	b. 1844, m. Harriet Jenkins.

Abraham Knight lived in Camden County for several years after marriage, 
later moving back to Wayne County where be died May 26, 1867. He took part 
in the War of 1812, serving under Capt. John Bachlott in a company of 
Georgia militia; he was in an engagement on the St. Mary's River during the 
war, when several British barges were captured. He also participated in the 
Indian War and served under Capt. E. D. Tracy in his company of Camden 
County militia in 1838.
Mr. Knight was Justice of Peace in the 33rd district, Camden County, 
1818-1821, and in the 333rd district, Wayne County, 1829-1833. He was 
buried at Little Creek Baptist Church in Wayne County.
 Mrs. Knight made her application June 16, 1875, for a pension based on her 
husband's War of 1812 services. She died about 1884, and was buried by her 
husband at Little Creek Church.

KNIGHT, WILLIAM CONE.	1805-1870 	LANIER

William Cone Knight, son of Rev. William A. Knight (Vol. I), was born Oct. 
8, 1805, in Wayne County, and died at his home on the old Milltown-Valdosta 
road in Lowndes (now Lanier) County, Feb. 8, 1870. He was married in 1826 
to Rachel Carter, born in South Carolina, August 4, 1806, and died Dec. 28, 
1874, in Lowndes County. She was a daughter of Capt. Jesse Carter and wife 
(Vol. I). To Mr. and Mrs. Knight were born:

2. John	b. Mar. 14, 1828, m. Dicy Staten, dau. of Barzilla.
3. William J.	b. Aug. 24, 1829, m. Susannah Lightsey, dau. of Jacob.

5. Sarah	b. Feb. 27,1833, m. William Touchston.
6. Rachel	b. Apr. 18, 1834, m. (unknown).
7. Nancy	b. Aug. 8, 1835, m. Wm. J. Knight (son of John and Sarah).
8. Thomas Jefferson 	b. July 4, 1837, m. Eliza Lee.
9. Elizabeth	b. Dec. 23, 1838, m. Wm. W. Williams, son of E. J.

Mr. Knight moved with his parents from Wayne to Lowndes County in 1825, and 
after marriage he acquired land on the old Public road from Milltown (as it 
was called in those days, now "Lakeland") to Valdosta, and built his home 
there and cleared up a large plantation. Mr. Knight served as Captain of 
the 663rd district militia, August
9, 1827, until Jan. 12, 1829. He was a private in Capt. Levi J. Knight's 
company of Lowndes County militia in 1838-39 during the Indian War. He 
served as ensign in the 660th District militia 1846  until it was disbanded 
about 1853, His only public office was that of a Justice of Lowndes 
Inferior Court, which he held five years, 1832-1837.
