Subject: Kin Question From: Rchamb5801 Date: February 24, 1999 Recently I ran into a gentleman about 75 years of age with my last surname. He knew my grandfather. This gentleman told me that his father told him that he and my gf were connected and that they had second cousins in the upstate of SC. I also have a cousin that said his gf said we had cousins living in the upstate (before I knew of this other). His gf and my gf were brothers. I can go back to the early 1800's with both lines and there doesn't seem to be a connection, however, my uncle who died last year in his 70's had a middle name of Clifton and this gentleman's father had a middle name of Clifton. Both families are early SC families. What do you make of this and if I know this lineage me - my father - gf - ggf - gggf him - his father - gf - ggf - gggf. How would my gf and his father be second cousins if there was no marriage from his gggf and my gggf in our lines? What am I overlooking?
