I am not quite sure what I am looking for...My gggGrandfather was born SC
circa 1812. His name was Stephen A. Kersey. I know he was a physician and he
married in Al. I have read exerpts from a letter that was written by (at that
time )an elderly lady ..I am not sure if her mind confused some things or if
something was lost in the translation. (her daughter was writing as she was
speaking) In that letter she states that Grampa Kersey's name was John
Tally.... She states that Stephen was partially raised by a white man and his
son Benjamin Franklin Kersey was a big tall man with strong indian features. I
am not sure if Stephen's father was a Kersey or possibly a Tally. I am going
with the latter. I do not know which county Stephen was born in.
it reads on a census that I have that he was born in SC.????? That is where I
am now. If this name looks remotely familiar to anyone , please let me know.
