Subject: JOSEPH JOHNSON From: Elida Date: May 10, 1999 Hello, Looking for information on Joseph JOHNSON, owner of "Brickyard Plantation", Ladies Island, SC. I believe he had a brickyard there, made bricks that were used in the building of Beaufort's famous "Castle" - have heard he was also owner of the Castle. Was he a physician or was his son a doctor? What happened to the Plantation. Is this "Brickyard Plantation" one and the same as the "Broomfield Plantation"? I've also read of a ferry crossing the Beaufort River between the Brickyard Plantation Rd. and Beaufort town at a bend in the road. What happened to Joseph Johnson and his family? What is "Broomfield Plantation"? What crops were grown there? Thanks in advance for any information contributed.
