John Mikell/Michael of Marlboro 1785 - Deborah Byrd
Subject: John Mikell/Michael of Marlboro 1785

I have a theory about John Mikell husband of Ann Ball and wanted to kick it
around and see if anyone else had checked it out. In 1785 John and Ann
sold their land in Marlboro District. The shows the name spelled both ways
Mikell and Michael.

The memorials show a Johannes Adam Michael moving to the Pee Dee River
area. A year or so lated John Michael has memorials in his name. My
theory is that Johnannes Adam is John Mikells father. And that the family
ties back to Johnannes Adam Micheal who married Elizabeth Thorowgood about
1660 in Virginia. I haven't been able to trace the family forward in
time. The first couple of generations are included in the First Families
of Virginia publication "Adventurers of Purse and Person". Has anyone else
found this "connection" and pursued it, to see if there is a link between
the families?
