Subject: John Holley From: Doris Pyle Haynes Date: April 06, 1998 John HOLLEY was born ca 1715 in Bertie Co., NC. married Rebecca GILBERT. They were in the Lynch Creek area of Cheraws District, Kershaw Co., SC with his brothers, Jacob, Richard, and James by the start of the Rev. War. John was suspected of being a Tory because he wouldn't 'take sides' and was 'ran out' of SC into Eastern Tenn. He took with him his son, John Jr. and his family of grown children and settled along the Nolochucky (or Mollohockey) River in SE Tenn. Would like to find someone who knows more about this family. Jacob may have been hanged for a Tory. Some of Richard and James' descendants went to GA and LA.
