JOHN HENTY [Hentie] deputy surveyor of SC mid 1700s - Edgar Taylor
Subject: JOHN HENTY [Hentie] deputy surveyor of SC mid 1700s

A repeat of a query I posted last year-

John HENTY or HENTIE was one of the early deputy surveyors of SC -
early to mid 1700's. He apparently was close to the BALL, CHICKEN and
SERRE' families as he made their surveys and witnesed their wills and
other transactions. But I have found little else on him. He apparently
died intestate as I have found no will, and his creditor- one of the
ELIAS BALL- sought and was appointed the executor for his estate. I have
not found an inventory of what he had at his death. He had owned land in
Berkeley Co and surrounding.counties and was in Georgetown for a time.
I suspect either his sister or daughter Elizabeth married as his first
wife WILLIAM CHICKEN. If so John Henty would be an ancestor of mine.
I welcome any pieces of data on John Henty which any one may come
across in their research. His name appears on many early surveys of a
number of different people as is found in the Combined Alphabetical
Index for SC records.. Ed T of PGH
