In the limited research I have been able to do, in conjunction with Bill
Boyd, I am just about convinced that there were two John BOYDs in the
general vicinity of Union and Newberry Districts, SC, in about the same
time frame (approximately 1775 - 1815). Bill and I have discussed several
possibilities in this respect: 1. there were two John Boyds; 2. there were
two John Boyds, and one was the son of the other; 3. our John Boyd was not
married to Jane BARNARDOE (and various spellings); 4. some researchers
have without intent have inserted information in the wrong family group;
5. we should go directly to Union District, SC, and Columbia in person to
sort this questionable situation out. We are open to any suggestion. And
I am convinced that there are persons in SC today searching this same line
who have the information, but will not share it for various reasons. I
have corresponded with two or three people who want the information I have
but are not willing to share what they have. I guess that is the way
"genealogical research" is done. Not bitter and no sour grapes, just
facts.  Jim Allen, mailto:[email protected].
