In the Index for Royal Land grants in South Carolina is listed a grant to
Johannes Adam Mickell dated 1774 for land located in Craven County.  This
land was later sold by him in Marlboro District SC 1786 under the name of
John Michael/Mikell.  He also received other land grants in the same area
and time span as John Michael.  One history of the Old Cheraws area lists
him and his brothers and sister as moving from Virginia at this time.
Another source states they were from Chesterfield County VA.

and sisters
Ursula
Catherine.

Does anyone know the Virginia connections of this family?
Does this Micheal/Mikell family have ties to the Micheal-Thurrowgood Family
of Colonial VA?
