Subject: Jasper Co. SC From: JEAN FEIMSTER Date: March 22, 2000 I would really like some help on this one..... I have a 1920 Jasper Co. SC census listing Joanna Ford 17yr. mu as a servant for the Wall family. Here is my problem....... The census lists the township as COS--WHATCHIE. Along the margin where the street is to be listed is written something about "Bee's Creek". Can anyone explain to me where this is?? Secondly, I am looking for the FORD family of Ridgeland. I have very little family resources to draw from and no dates. Hence, 1920 is my starting point for working backwards. What I do know is this....Joe FORD, my gg-father, according to my aunt, was a well to do african american and former slave who owned land. I am not sure if Joe is short for something like "Joseph". His wife's name was Joanna Clorie(?) Ford. She is said to have died in Florida and her body was returned to SC to Washington Shores Cemetery in Ridgeland. Joe and Joanna had 3 other children....Lucille b.1906, Lottie, and Samuel 1914-1993. I have searched the 1910 & 1900 census and came up empty. So, here I am.... Can anyone find a new starting point or point me in the right direction? Florida is not an avenue I want to pursue right now because some of that history is familiar. I know that Jasper is a young county and came from Hampton and Beufort. Beyond that I haven't a clue Jean.
