I haven't tried this for a while, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I'm looking for any information on JAMES DAVIS. JAMES lived in Abbeville in
1764 and was an original settler. He also gave land for the Hugenot Community.

I am particularly interested in the names of JAMES' slaves. I believe that my
5th GGF was a slave of JAMES DAVIS. My 4th GGF, d/o LUCY WIDEMAN, was named
JAMES DAVIS and was known to be a free negro. I believe he took the name of
his slave father's master.

Any information would be appreciated.
