I have a mysterious Matilda HARRISON b. Sep 1865 in Adam's
Run, SC.

I found an entry in the Charleston City Directory 1870 for a
Matilda HARRISON age 15, in school, living with J. K.
HARRISON; 31 Bogard St.

I am told she was part Indian. She was born in Adam's Run,
SC. I even have a photo that shows a great profile. I know
there were Native Americans that lived in that area along
the Edisto River that were named HARRISON, but so far I
can't place Matilda. I have even wondered if she may have
had a different name at birth. I do know that she married a
PENDARVIS, and next a SHOKES (her death records show STOKES,
this is incorrect).

I suspect that Matilda and her PENDARVIS husband moved to
FLA. and then she may have returned to SC after the death of
her first husband. She married my g-grandfather Henry
SHOKES.

Any help in finding, or info on this wonderful human being
will be greatly appreciated.
