Because JOHN HUTCHINSON has a son named John, I'm not certain if he is
reserving a life estate for himself or his son in the transaction
below.  (I think it is for himself, given no stated consideration for
son John; son John already has another part of this lot anyway.)  Again,
I would love to hear from anyone researching any of the names below, and
I look forward to getting one of those good maps to plot everything.

Q.   What kind of structure is "a large brick house of 2 tenements"?

Are these two structures connected by a breezeway?  Two wings of the
same building? ??

Co., for 5 sh. & for natural love & affection which HUTCHINSON bears for
daughter ANNE & son THOMAS & for settling the N part of the S part of
lot #2 with the brick mansion, & for other considerations.  HUTCHINSON
conveys to MIDDLETON & IZARD in trust the N part of lot #2, bounding #
on the Bay;  No on JOSEPH BOON; W on a marsh of LANDGRAVE THOMAS SMITH;
S on the S part of the lot belonging to JOHN HUTCHINSON & extending to
the line dividing the 2 tenements of the brick house, going W by a line
as the fence stands to W boundary of the N part of the lot; also the
brick mansion on the N half occupied by PAUL JENNYS; in trust for JOHN
HUTCHINSON during his life; then for daughter ANN; in default of ANN;
then to son THOMAS; in default of both then to the heirs of JOHN.  JOHN
HUTCHINSON owns the southern part of lot #2 in Charleston gronting 51
ft. on Cooper River, bounding S 212 ft. on CAPT. MATHEW PORTER (formerly
CAPT. GEORGE SMITH); W on a marsh of LANDGRAVE THOMAS SMITH; N on JOSEPH
BOON; with a large brick house of 2 tenements, the S tenement occupied
by JOHN HUTCHINSON, the N by PAUL JENNYS.  Witnesses:  NICHOLAS TROTT,
