Subject: Highland Scots Naming Patterns From: Cheryl Crowder Date: May 12, 1999 I just learned that the Highland Scots used to name their first male child after the paternal grandfather (of the child) and the second male child after the maternal grandfather. QUESTION: How rigid was this pattern? Should I count on it in terms of determining lineage or just use as a guideline? Would love to hear your personal experience with this naming pattern.
