Have you tried looking at the 1855 and 1860 Slave Schedules which listed the
owner and then itemized by sex and age each slave owned. They are by
counties. FHC probably has them if your local library does not have the
census  records for SC. Even if the names are not given on these schedules
it may help you to discover exactly how many slaves the Heyward did own and
perhaps then the Freeman Association will have further information which
will provide marriage record, or work contact, etc. Good luck.
