A few weeks ago there was a query about the Cherokee Co, AL HENDERSON
families.  I hope this will help. I have no additiona information about these
families.  Just thought I would pass it along, as it does not apply to my Hugh
M. HENDERSON b 1814 Laurens, SC.

This information was photocopied from a manuscript file, on microfilm at the
Huntsville AL Library (I ; the notes of a genealogist, Mrs. L. M. Crouch, Jr.,
dated Nov. 1975. I am converting the dating to the method I use on PAF.

Re: The Old MATTHEWS Bible, sent to her by Mrs. Beatrice B. Commander in 1970,
she having had them from Miss J.H. Neely. Miss Neely's mother was Margaret
Susan (Matthews) Neely, dau of Mary Ann (Henderson) Matthews, the only ch of
James Porter & Elizabeth (Booie) HENDERSON, one of the children listed below
of John and Mary. This bible had been sent to her uncle in Texas.

John Henderson's will, York Co, SC 23 Sep 1832; 31 Dec 1832, names wife, Mary,
Violet Neely, William H. , John H., James P. H., Rebecca Pursley, and grandson
Franklin Davidson.

(A note by L. M. Crouch said that he questioned that a child was omitted.
William Barry HENDERSON b 7 Sep 1787. She had access in 1975 to the bible of
W.B. H. and a transcript of his gravestone. She questions if he was a twin to
Violet Barry H.)

Note by L.M.C: Descendants of William B. Henderson have stated his full name
ot be William Barry and William Berry HENDERSON.
