Subject: Headers in Message Body From: Steven J. Coker Date: December 13, 1998 QUESTION: I sometimes receive messages which have a message header shown in the body of the message. Is there something I can do about on my end to prevent this confusing gibberish from being displayed? For examples of this problem see the following. http://liszt.bluemarble.net/read/SCRoots-L/[email protected] http://liszt.bluemarble.net/read/SCRoots-L/[email protected] http://liszt.bluemarble.net/read/SCRoots-L/[email protected] http://liszt.bluemarble.net/read/SCRoots-L/[email protected] http://liszt.bluemarble.net/read/SCRoots-L/[email protected] http://liszt.bluemarble.net/read/SCRoots-L/[email protected] RESPONSE: This isn't caused by anything on your end of the line. The confusing mess is usually caused by the writer sending the message with an attachment. Rootsweb's email server converts text only attachments, including the header information, from attachments into message body text. This most often happens when the sender "Forwards" a message as an attachment rather than copying and pasting it into a new, clean message. Apparently some users (e.g. Web TV) can't forward messages any other way.
