Subject: GOODWATER From: Daniel Gannon Date: June 27, 1999 Would anyone know if records were kept of marriages that may have taken place on plantations in SC prior to the Civil War? I am looking for a marriage that occurred between Thomas and Anjulina GOODWATER,who were slaves on the Elias Venning plantation near the Cooper River in Mt.Pleasant,Christ Church Parish,Charleston County,SC in 1854.My feeling is that if there is such a record it would be found in the personal papers of Elias Venning.Any feedback on this? Also would anyone know if a Church Register is in existence for the Old Wappetaw Independent Congregational Presbyterian Church that used to be 14 miles from Mt.Pleasant,SC? I am looking for a marriage that may have taken place there in the 1850's. Thank you very much for any help you may be able to supply.
